FTM, can I breastfeed?

Question

I had a breast lift and implants years ago and have no sensation in my nipples. I’m 32 weeks and wondering when I’ll know if I can breastfeed - I bought a breast pump because it’s covered by insurance. Is it possible to know in advance if I’ll be able to pump/breastfeed? Is it worth trying out the pump a few weeks before delivery? I haven’t had any leakage so far.

I had a lift and implant as well.  I was able to breastfeed for about 4 weeks.  I had a tubular deformity which is why I got the surgery.  Because of that my milk dried up after four weeks.  If you didn’t have that issue you should be fine

I tried my pump a few weeks before I delivered and had some colostrum come out. I didn’t leak at all during my pregnancy and am having no trouble breastfeeding

Unfortunately you won’t know until your baby comes.. the colostrum comes in first, and then your milk after that, but your body doesn’t get the hormones to release those things until after you’ve given birth. Is your OB concerned about it?
