How do you put your 👶 to sleep?

Cuddle/nurse until asleep and place in bed?

Cuddle until “drowsy” and place in bed?
My bb is the youngest in the group so she doesn’t have Object Permanence yet; I have read they have a huge sleep regression when this ability develops—I’m TERRIFIED.

My baby nurses to sleep. I've never actually seen her drowsy before. She's either wide awake and screeching like a pterodactyl or conked out. Pretty much the second the nipple is in her mouth she's asleep. I'll even move her from side to side and she stays asleep. Only downside is she still nurses every 2-3 hours overnight, which the pediatrician and lactation consultant said is normal for BF babies.

She is SO easy. I nurse her and she's usually still awake but I lay her in her crib and she falls asleep on her own without issue. At night at least. Naps are nearly impossible right now 😩

At nighttime I usually lay him down while he is drowsy but sometimes he falls asleep before we lay him down. He still wakes up once or twice and I will help him find his pacifier or rock him back to sleep.  I have a 4 year old and she has no issues with bedtime despite me rocking her and comforting her when she was an infant🤷🏼‍♀️

(Now) We hold to sleep and then rustle him just enough to wake and look around for a second or two when laying him in his bed.  He went through a rough patch 2-3 weeks ago where he refused to be put down (was startling awake like a newborn) and I literally spent three plus hours one night using a very calm pick up/put down and finally something clicked for him.  He’s been sleeping through (7-7) since.  My only two rules since are (1) no soothing other then holding/cuddles (no more walking, rocking, shushing, singing) and (2) if he wakes fully when I lay him down at the start of the night, I don’t pick up and try to re-soothe anymore; I take him out of the room for a diaper change, stroll around the house or a book.  I know it seems like that would be a reward for not settling, but in fact I think it’s helped break the association of us being the mechanism for sleep (rather then his bed).  After we’re done with our jaunt out of the bedroom, my husband and I literally go through our (very simple and quick) bedtime routine again, and then we sit in the rocker until he calms before placing him down.  I can’t tell you yow beautiful it is to see him finally self soothe throughout the night.

i put her in her cot in her bedroom ! always awake. ive been doing that since she was around 2 months ! she does sleep in my room at night, its easier for me but she will be sleeping in her room allnight soon

Bottle, give her her binky and lovey, sing her a lullaby while holding and rocking her in her dark room with white noise, lay her on her belly drowsy but awake, pat her butt and shush for like 10 seconds and walk out. Sometimes she goes to sleep right away, and sometimes I go in every 5 minutes to soothe without picking up. If I time it right and she is perfectly tired without being overtired she goes right to sleep or needs my “help” only once. If I put her to bed too early on accident (I can tell because she picks her head up and looks around, or “crawls” all over the crib) it can take as long as maybe 20-25 minutes for her to go to sleep.

For naps I usually cuddle with him until he falls asleep, he hates naps and prefers to be in the action. At night, I can lay him in his own bed (in our room across from my side of the bed) and he will babble to himself until he falls asleep on his own.

Bottle, jammies, read a few books and put in crib with soother and lullabies playing. It's so funny as soon as I put the music on she will start rubbing her eyes and look towards her crib 😂 I've done this since 3 months and she has always slept through the night. Going on 11-12 hour nights 💪. I've read about sleep regressions but have never noticed any difference during those times.

I usually nurse, rock, then put to bed awake but drowsy. My son cries 9/10 times but within 5 minutes (usually within 2) he's asleep. Just got to listen to the cry to figure out if I need to go back in sooner than the 5 minutes. Sometimes he refuses to sleep (can tell by what cry it is) and I just let him come play for another half hour before trying again. Me and my fiancé have a sleep disorder so I don't want to risk my son associating anything negative (like being left alone to cry for a prolonged period of time) to bedtime because that'll only increase the likelihood of him also developing the sleep disorder we have. I don't like the idea of forced sleep training or CIO until at least 6 months, and personally I'd never force a baby to do something they don't want to do. Just listen to your baby and let them take the lead. It's what I did and it works pretty well for us.

I’ve used sleep training with my children practically from birth. I’ve never dealt with sleep regressions with either of them (2.5y and 5mo). I don’t nurse to sleep. I do nurse my 5 mo old before bed and then I lay her down and she falls asleep. I usually stay in her room while she falls asleep, but not always
