has anyone had ppd due to breastfeeding?

has anyone’s post partum depression eased by switching to formula? mine is pretty severe.. it’s taken a huge toll on my family and i think switching to formula might help. breastfeeding is really draining. has anyone felt this way?

That's exactly why I feel like mine started and it got so bad. The day I switched to formula I felt like a weight was lifted off my shoulders. But eventually it came back I'm on medicine now and it's helping a bunch

There is an actual disorder that affects women when breastfeeding. I can't remember the namr, but the only way to help is to stop breastfeeding.

I knew for a 100% fact that I'd develop PPD if I breastfed so I avoided it like the plague. I had zero interest in it and I really hated the whole idea of my body "not being my own" or having our daughter latched to me at all times. I also never wanted to be the only person who could care for her. I see way too many breastfeeding women bitch and complain about how their spouse can't breastfeed. So it wasn't appealing to me in the slightest. Our daughter has been formula fed since birth and I have zero regrets.

I wasn’t depressed but I definitely felt better when I stopped breastfeeding. Less hormonal, less angry. I think it’s plausible that stopping would ease PPD symptoms for some women as well.

I’m sure it’s possible.., I’m breastfeeding my daughter and it is stressful, and leads to lots of broken sleep. If you think switching will help, perhaps try switching a couple of night feeds to see how you get on

I actually had PPD with my second he was the one I breastfed the shortest. I always felt better when I nursed vs formula. I’m sure if it can go one way it can go the other!!
