Can he actually be banned?

So when I was 34 weeks,  I was getting monitored because I had the flu for 3 weeks straight and no sign of getting better.  The ER wouldn't take me in until they knew baby was safe. Anyway,  my husband is a recovering addict,  and against better judgement,  he relapsed in the hospital bathroom. He overdosed,  and when I got him help, he was calm and confused,  but not violent or anything. I'm not happy about the situation.  The city we live in is like the meth and heroin capital in wisconsin,  so this thing is not unheard of happening there. Anyway,  a week later,  risk management called saying he is NOT allowed to be there when I give birth NOR visit when I'm still there after delivery. She claimed he threatened staff,  which he did not. They won't even let him on property at all. Can they even ban him from the hospital? I have no friends or family near us,  so he is my only support.

idk the laws but I feel like they definitely can if he could be a possible danger to you, baby, himself or even other patients. especially since he was caught using and ODing in the hospital

While I sympathise with you both I agree he should be banned. Healthcare staff have enough to worry about with their patients without dealing with an addict too. Unless he could prove he was better? Their priority is you and your baby.

Husband or not , I would cut him off from seeing my child until he is sober and better . Drugs are not a way to play with having children

Nurse here he can be banned from the hospital as he participated in an illegal activity on hospital property. The only time the ban would be lifted is if he needed medical attention and was a patient. But they do have a right to protect their staff and patients from a potential threat not saying he did or would do anything violent, but on drugs you not they can say for sure. I’m sorry this happened, but good luck!!

why the hell would you want an addict(whos in his addiction) at your birth? Thats insane. imfind someone who cares about you and baby. an product is currently using is not going to give a shit about you. he will most like want another high while your in pain! i would suggest finding a good friend to be there for you. and in the meantime kick your boyfriend out. no need for that to be around baby and I would be very suprised if the hospital has not already told CPS.

Yes, they can ban him. He will probably be of no support to you if he is high or OD’s again and while you are receiving help, he would be a risk and a medical distraction. Depending on your insurance, you can see if there’s another hospital that will take you. Is there no family or friends that can help you? Even if they are there for a short while? I live in Madison, WI and the  rules and protocols for the hospitals are very rigid, the hospitals have to protect their staff and patients.  I would call up your Dr and insurance and see what other hospitals are available.

I would talk to whoever is head of the hospital but this is ridiculous. I have never heard of anyone being banned from an hospital for this reason. Do you know how many times a nurse gets threatened a day? And they still get seen and get to come back. If he was violent then I would call right away. What happens if he needs to go ER for medical emergency? They can’t turn down service, it would be illegal but just like when people go to the ER without insurance, they can not refuse their services.

I get he’s your boyfriend/husband but if getting high was more important than you and his baby he’s already giving you a glimpse of what’s to come. And he def shouldn’t be around 1. Baby’s sake 2. For yours as well since you too are a recovering addict. 
I get where you’re coming from but hospital staff already have enough to worry about with the patients they shouldn’t have to be worried about patient families not being able to act or behave appropriately. He should be banned. He took his own right away to see his baby be born.

Yikes 😬 I’m going to guess your near Milwaukee? My dad works in the ICU and the only patients that get away with any kind of illegal activity are the ones who are in critical enough condition they cannot turn them away, also my dads been punched by at least 20 elderly people who couldn’t comprehend what was going on, and clearly they weren’t prosecuted or trespassed. I personally know a bi-ploar woman with cancer who was being seen at my dads hospital. She had a heated argument with either her doctor or the staff and was banned from going back, she now has to drive two hours to do her treatment. They will not even reconsider based on her actions and I can assume she was being pretty irate judging by her character. they will trespass anybody who could pose a threat to the staff or patients. If you think he will be helpful, supportive and most importantly SOBER during the birth of his child, try looking into giving birth at another location he isn’t trespassed from? But it really sounds like he doesn’t have you or your child’s best interest as of now.
