You avoid the intervention cascade, there’s no risk of side effects from epidurals or other medications, recovery tends to be faster, and there can be the most glorious euphoria after. I felt high for three days after my daughter was born

For me, it was having control over my own body and labor process I was doing rather than having someone tell me what to do. I don’t like the tendency for fetal maternal medicine decisions to be made around money and liability rather than the best way to facilitate the birth. I didn’t want a c section and I knew the best way to avoid it is to not have an epidural, and instead be able to move freely and feel my body to adjust to my baby’s need. I did hypnobirthing and I think it’s a really good preparation because it it empowering and gives you relaxation and coping mechanisms. Even if you aren’t planning it natural, being relaxed always helps your body avoid stress and tenseness.

I liked being able to be free of an IV, and anything else that would restrict me, being able to move freely about the room, escaping the possible side effects of medications, and not having to be continuously monitored. 
I have a lot of distrust for the medical system, so being in control was a big deal to me. 
There is also some research and children who were not medicated or born with an epidural tend to breast-feed easier starting off.

Your baby has a much healthier immune system, your baby isn’t missing b. Infantis which is a very important good bacteria for their gut that they don’t get via c section, your recovery time will be shorter since you’re not having abdominal surgery, you will not have back problems that so many have after an epidural, you won’t have pitocin which is a synthetic form of our natural oxytocin, also pitocin can make women tear because their bodies don’t have time to adjust to birthing a baby. Those are just a few I can think of

Idk what exactly made my first labor so rough but i was induced and ended up with an epidural after 20 hrs. Labor was 33 hrs with 2 hrs of pushing. Felt like junk for over a month. My second total labor was 11hrs from first contraction to birth and only pushed for 5min. I felt great almost immediately! Idk if it was the drugs or length of labor but my natural labor was sooo much better!

I had a much faster labor and recovery when I went natural. I had 2 with the epidural and 1 without. I'm 30 weeks with my 4th and I will not be getting the epidural this time either. 
I also had a great labor, I felt more in tune with my body and I didnt have drs telling me when I needed to push or having to wake me up to check me or tell me to push etc.
