Hand Foot and Mouth Disease

My 14 month old was diagnosed with HFM on Saturday when he spiked a fever of 104.7 that wouldn’t go away. We ended up in the ER and the rash started to appear around his mouth while we were there. Fast forward to Tuesday and the rash/blisters are EVERYWHERE! I mean from head to toe he is covered in a rash that looks so painful. My poor baby even has blisters on his ears and private area.

His face, legs, and bottom are the worst. He won’t let me look in his mouth but from his appetite being non existent, I imagine they are in his throat as well. He has lived off milk for 3 days.

His fever has subsided but the rash has continued to get worse each day. Now being on day 5, how long does this rash take to go away? I feel awful because it looks so painful. I’ve called the pediatrician and they said they can’t do much just to continue with Motrin and Tylenol for pain. To call back if any sores look infected or he’s not having wet diapers.

Also 24 weeks pregnant so I’m concerned with catching it but at this point if I’m going to get it, I’m going to get it. Just praying I have dodged the bullet.
