When do you breastfeeding mamas plan to stop?

I’m still breastfeeding my son and he’s 17 months now so almost a year and a half. I have no problem continuing until he’s ready to stop. He eats regular food, 3 meals a day plus a variety of snacks but he’s still not ready to stop and I don’t mind at all. It still has its benefits and it doesn’t cause me any problems so why should I force him to stop?

My mom keeps making “jokes” about how I’m just like her sister who just whipped it out anywhere so she’s be walking through the grocery store with her 3 year old child in the shopping cart, nursing her. And I’m like “and what about it?” And my sisters (none of whom have children) were asking when I was going to stop and I said when he’s ready and they were saying that he doesn’t know that he needs to stop. I said that’s because he doesn’t NEED to. People only think so because they tend to see it as sexual. Breastfeeding a growing child, whether that’s an infant or toddler, is not something to be ashamed of. I refuse to be embarrassed or made to be the butt of the joke for feeding and comforting my child.

Anywayyy, was curious about what you other mamas were doing! 😊
