Aggressive toddler?

My son isn't a mean or angry kid but sometimes when he wants to play or while I'm just sitting there he come up, grind his teeth while shaking his head back and forth, and try to hug/squeeze his arms around me. 
Is it normal?

My little girl is quite aggressive too. She squeezes when she gets excited, she has her moments when she hits and so on. I ve done a bit of reading on this because i was worried and one thing that I really found interesting was that between 2-3 toddlers experience the most aggressive stage of their lives. Whenever it happens i firmly tell her no and that we hug we don’t squeeze or bite or hit. I also redirect her alot and remove her from the situation. I truly believe they will grow out of it with our guidance and we shouldn’t make them feel guilty or that they are naughty.

Not exactly aggressive (she doesn't intentionally try to hurt people) but she will jump on me if I'm sitting on the couch or butt stomp me if I'm lying down (stand up, jump and land on her butt on me). She will also try to jump on my back sometimes and grab on around my neck because she wants a piggy back ride.
Or she likes to play a game where she taps me and says "boop" and I respond back. But she gets excited and starts hitting instead of tapping.
I think it's normal for toddlers to be aggressive but not intentionally trying to hurt you. Like they are still learning to be gentle and that they can hurt people and what that means.
I'd wonder where he picked up the squeezing thing though because a lot of stuff is immitation. Like maybe some one has done that to him or he's seeing it on TV or something.
