Smelly belly button ?

My belly button was smelly so i cleaned it out and when i put my finger in it now it burns and is irritated has this happen to anyone ? Or how do you clean it without irritating it

Clean gently and make sure its completely dry (dry is very important). If you're rough with it and poke about in there it gets very sore and smelly. Mine used to go like that all the time cos I'd not dry it properly, so it'd get smelly, so I'd clean it roughly, so it for damaged, the damage lead to scabs and more smell. Finally broke the cycle a few years back. Just gently wipe with a wet cloth once when you shower/bathe then dry it with cotton buds/balls or a towel (again be careful not to prod at it).

Wait til it heals now and doesnt hurt and only clean it in the shower. Soap it up really good and softly clean it.
