I saw this post on Twitter and I would like to see your thoughts, reactions, etc. on this statement.
Telling him/her you’re not ready for a relationship but expecting him/her to give you relationship benefits is abuse. It’s confusing. It’s hurtful. Stop it.

I wouldn’t say it’s abuse, but I do think it’s wrong. You shouldn’t be selfish like that. Saying you’re not ready for a relationship but want and expect all the things that come with it? No, that’s not right. I feel like that’s just immature, controlling, and selfish because you’re basically holding them in a box until you’re ready for them. If you’re not ready, then you’re not ready. But it’s no excuse to do that.

It’s not really abused. When me and him broke up, he was still really protective over me, and when I told him a friend of mine was coming over and saying the night (friend was a dude who was also my ex who was also my abuser, very long story), he got really upset. Skip to a few hours later, and he’s having a full mental breakdown trying to contact me seeing if I was ok (together now 3 years). 
Some people have their reasons. If it’s not good intentions, then it’s controlling.
