Tricare questions

My husband and I got married back in June (he's army national guard). We both have health care through civilian jobs but I'm wanting to find out more about Tricare because from everything I've heard is that it's less expensive and possibly better than the health care I have at the moment. My husband isn't very in-the- know about his benefits (it's like he's slept through all the benefits classes) and I'd just like to know if DEERs is going to give me a breakdown of cost for the different health plans when I go to register as a spouse. Husband keeps telling me no, there isn't any sheets you just sign up. I want to cost compare before deciding on a decision like that because we can't open enroll again until next year. I have my sheets from both our jobs that tell us coverage and cost comparison.
