Shaving tips please!!

I got my first boyfriend that I actually feel comfortable being more physical with but I figured I needed to shave my vagina first and WOW it didn’t go well. It’s SO uncomfortable, I’ve got little bumps of puss everywhere, the whole thing is red and itchy and bothers me every time I walk. Do you guys have tips on how to shave correctly cause this is driving me insane
