Irritation during light period

I’ve been on birth control for a few years, and about two years ago it started getting really light. It comes really slowly and it looks like smudge. Light period are nice but it really irritates inside my vagina. Almost like a burning but not quite. I know it’s nothing serious, but does this happen to anyone else?
