Should I get pills?

So everytime I have my period I have bad cramps like really bad, sometimes it makes me cry because I can’t handle it. I recently read that birth control helps with it.. I am 18. Should I get it or ? I have strict parents, I don’t know if they will accept me getting it .

I started the pill as well in hopes to regulate my periods and make them lighter. It regulated my period right away, but it definitely took a few months (4-5 months) for me to notice it actually getting easier to manage, like less cramping and shorter periods

I just started the pill to regulate my period and then bam three days later I'm on, my cramps aren't as bad this time last Month I had to take 4 Advil pills this time tho I didn't take any and the pain was enough to bare. Also my mom thinks I want birth control to have sex but honestly I kind of am keeping it a secret from her I'm not ready to give my body away to anyone who doesn't deserve it.😂😂I hope I provided some insight and hopefully we can get through this together
