Maternity winter coat!?

Question

So i have a dilemma. So i live in quebec canada, and it get pretty cold in winter. So now that my belly is getting better, i have no winter coats that fit anymore.
So a friend of mine offer to lend me one of her coat that are 2 or 3 size bigger than mine. And my grand mother offer me to give me 200$ to buy a coat.
So should i buy a new maternity coat or should a take the one from my friend?

I would take the offer from your friend because you can always return it afterwards. Buying a new coat your going to wear a few months then it will be huge will be a waste of money. Its extremely kind of your grandma how lovely of her god bless her heart but maybe the money could be better spent if she wishes to spend the money on you.

They have inserts you can buy that’s stretch with ur belly that attaches to ur coat for winter if u can find one anywhere ? I used one and was amazing I wish I had a picture . I live in Alberta Canada so I totally get the cold lol. The insert attached to ur coat and just grows with u , might be able to find online or in a maternity store

You can get the insert that expands your coat. I’m in the same dilemma. I live in New Brunswick Canada.. I’m due November 27th though and have been holding out on her a maternity jacket cause I won’t need one after I deliver. Luckily I’m over heated all the time even with all this snow.

I’d borrow one to be honest just because that’s a lot of money to spend and what if you never wear it again?! I’m in the northeast in the us and I’m praying I can squeeze into my winter coat through the winter until May when I’m due. I’d use the $200 on something more exciting like baby stuff, 4d ultrasound, birth pictures or a prenatal massage!!!

Take the one from your friend if you think it’s warm enough, can you put the money from your Gran towards something else for baby?
I live in Boston, MA and just found a great down parka on clearance at TJMaxx! I only got 1 size up so I hope it can at least get me through February (I will be about 28-30 weeks then) after that it should* be a bit warmer and I may not need such a heavy coat but I’m definitely risking it!! I wanted something that I could still wear after pregnancy so I went with the Medium (usually wear an XS or S) 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

You can always check out thredup! I found one in great condition used for 20$! I know.i hate wearing oversized stuff especially pregnant but i dont think new is worth it when itll get less than a yrs use!

I’d definitely take the one from your friend. That’s sweet of your grandma to offer but I wouldn’t want someone spending that amount of money on me for something I will probably only wear for a few months. Also, I was pregnant though winter in Michigan and found my regular down coat was fine as long as I had a sweater on under. I was honestly so hot during my last few months of pregnancy I never even would have wanted to zip up a coat!
