Gas lighting is a manipulation tactic used to get you to question your own sanity or judgment. The person doing the gas lighting might downplay a situation that happened in the past, making you feel that you are being dramatic or remembering the facts incorrectly. Sometimes they do it slowly over time, so that you aren't as aware of being, for lack of a better term, brain washed. You are slowly conditioned to believe what this person is saying because typically it is someone you love & trust, someone who might even make you very happy at times.
