Mini pill vs Birth control pill???

Question

I keep seeing comments about the "mini pill". What is that?! I am a whole ass 18 years old and on birth control, and I have no idea what it is.

Answer

It's a progesterone only birth control pill for women who cant take estrogen. Example I have migraines where I lose my.vision which increases my risk of a stroke. And estrogen makes that a high risk so I cant take the combo pill which has estrogen. I also cant take patch or ring because they both have estrogen. All of hormonal birth control is progesterone only. Mini pills are usually only prescribed if you just gave birth or have a medical condition like high blood pressure.

Answer

Mini pill has less hormones but is less forgiving (has to be taken at the same time each day). Combination pill has more hormones but is more forgiving (you’re suppose to take it at the same time but if you’re a couple hours late, you’ll be okay)
