My Preemie💙

Alayna

My preemie baby, Declan Erick, decided he was going to make his arrival at 35 weeks!

I was diagnosed with gestational hypertension half way through my pregnancy but continued working as a CNA. I had a csection scheduled for Oct 22nd due to my health. I had never gone into natural labor before (I was induced with my oldest), but one night at work I felt like something was going on with my body. I felt a LOT of pressure in my pelvis and I could barely walk. I told my boss that I thought I was in labor but I couldn’t seem to count my contractions.

Welllllll, I went to the hospital and was having contractions every 3 minutes 😬. AND was 3cm dilated and 50% effaced 😬😬. I was given a shot to stop labor and another to help develop his lungs faster. Once they monitored me long enough to make sure my labor had slowed down and stopped, I went home. I ended up be awake allll night with pain. I woke up the next morning with labor pain again. We ended up rushing to the hospital and I was in fact in labor again! Every time I had a contraction, my baby’s heart rate would drop. Doctors weren’t concerned unless it stayed low.

After several hours...my OB walks in 😳. She told me his heart rate had dropped for 3 minutes and they had made the decision to take him that day.

Our sweet boy was born at 4:48pm and he was 6lbs 11oz 19.75in! 💙

He stayed in the NICU for 3 days then was allowed to stay in the room we were boarding in. He is a very stubborn, beautiful, and awesome little boy!
