North Carolina, anyone?

We’re looking into moving somewhere back east (currently in Denver) because we can’t afford to live here anymore. We have been looking into North Carolina a lot lately.
My question is, if you live there/have lived there how did you like it? Did you move there or did you grow up there? Also, what areas do you recommend? 
We will eventually have 3 children of our own and my 2 step daughters will be with us every summer if that matters.

I like it. I’ve grown up here and lived here all my life. Born and raised in Greensboro, moved to Charlotte for a little bit for school, and now I’m back in “the boro” lol.

Apex, Durham, Raleigh .. the Triangle area in general is perfect for a growing family . I’m planning on moving back this month as well . It’s a breath of fresh air seriously, you’ll love it

Alright so I got two sides here for you.
So I met my fiancé in NC when I moved down there, I only lived there for 2 months but he lived there for 12 years.  He absolutely hated it, much preferred the Midwest (his childhood was in Wisconsin).  He hates how expensive it is, the job market sucks, the pay is horrible (and from him, weed is expensive and illegal 😂)
Now for the short time I was there I loved it.  It’s beautiful and Charlotte is gorgeous especially at night (he’s from Charlotte, we lived together near Winston-Salem).
But I honestly have to agree with him.  It is very difficult to find a job and very expensive.  I only got paid $8.50 at my first job and that was like mind blowing to me because minimum wage is $9 in Nebraska.  We had to move to Nebraska after those 2 months because neither of us could find a job.
Oh, and the traffic.  OMG.  Trying to get out of Charlotte will take you FOREVER.  Any of the major cities have traffic.  It’s horrible.  My fiancé told me that he ran out of gas several times being stuck in traffic.  He had to work 80+ hours/week just to live by himself too.
So honestly...it’s beautiful and going to the beach is awesome but for a family, no.  I wouldn’t recommend.  If you can find a job before you go down there than maybe, but it’s got a lot of negatives.
