Would you attend a gay wedding?

Question

Came up in my bible study group. 
Mixed answers in my group. 
I said yes. It’s not my place to judge them. I have no power to condemn or save.It’s my place to love others and be an example to my faith in being kind. Jesus told us to love each other above all
If others see how I conduct myself with love then they could potentially seek out the Gospel for themselves.

While I understand the perspective of some not wanting to “show approval” I think by not attending the wedding you’re effectively cutting yourself out of their lives and forgoing whatever opportunities there are to show them love as we’re supposed to do as Christians. If the couple getting married is Christian then however they reconcile their faith with their sexuality is between them and God (unless it’s something they are comfortable sharing with you/others). If they’re not Christians then we have a responsibility as Christians to show them the love of Jesus and to do so without judgement. 
Also, in America at least, the view that Christians are judgmental and intolerant absolutely breaks my heart because that’s not who we’re called to be. I think it’s each and every one of our jobs to break that mold so that we can share who God is with others.

This is seems like the most difficult hard question....but the more I’ve thought about it, the clearer the answer seems. 
I think these days Christians (me included) are putting others ahead of God, as if his commands don’t matter as long as we’re being loving to other people.
Hypothetically let’s they I had two friends, man and a women, their not married, and they decided they wanted to have everyone come over to celebrate the fact that their having sex outside of marriage. Would I attend this party? 
Of course I wouldn’t, and if they are my friends then I could have a conversation about how much I love them, but that I can’t knowingly celebrate their sin with them.
When I think of things that way, it helps me understand and formulate answer to help others understand.
You can still love someone, but you do not have to like, love or celebrate their sin with them.
If you open up the Bible you will find that yes Jesus ate with all these people others called sinners, but he did not celebrate their sin with them. 
Jesus called people out of their sin, he never agreed that their sin was okay, but he loved them as people.
And I believe that’s what we should be doing, if someone’s gay, pray for them, speak life to them, but we do not, and should not be celebrating their sin. There is a difference.

I wouldn't simply because it goes against what I believe marriage is. I have missed out on weddings before & continued a friendship just fine. I don't think it reflects whether I love them or not, it just simply says I won't adjust my belief to fit theirs. As I would never ask them to adjust what they believe to fit my beliefs.
I know people who are homosexual & respect that I'm Christian. I respect who they choose to love & don't condemn them because I am not God. We ALL fall short, that's the simple truth. 
Respect & love is hard to come by.

I have gay friends. However they know that I am a Christian. I will not support sin, no matter who does it! I will not alter my relationship with my savior just to suck up to sinners.

No, I would not. Attending a wedding is supporting the couple in the start of their new life together. 
I will not stop them from getting married, but I can't lend my support at the wedding.

I believe there's a difference between loving one another and supporting sin. There's a line to be drawn there. It's not our place to judge & we should continue to love anyone regardless while also sharing Christ with them, but that doesn't mean supporting their life choices & to me attending a gay wedding would be supporting & condoning sin. My brother is into other men which I know he can't help, but he's made the choice to follow God & turn away from those temptations..that means staying single & he's ok with that. I can't imagine how hard it is for him. I love him no matter what, but would never support if he made a decision to sin. I would pray for him instead.

If you listen to John Piper, he's had a couple podcasts dedicated to this topic he gives good insight on why you should not, but I'm still right in the middle. Because you want to be loving of that person, put you are also supposed to shun sin (like that Psalm verse the other commenter said). Also going to that wedding would be showing your approval. I do believe it's a sin, but it doesn't mean you treat them any different from any other non-believer. All are sinners. Then again, it's a wedding that is against what God's marriage is intended for. I could literally go either side I guess 😬

By not attending when they asked you to be there, you are only showing that couple scorn and hatred. There is no way they will ever know the love of God without being shown by God’s people. If we as Christians cannot show love to those around us, what are we even doing in this world? I don’t have to agree with their life choice to still love them as people.

The same question should be asked for those who have been divorced without biblical reason. If you wouldn't have a problem going to a wedding where one person (or both) had been divorced for unbiblical reasons then there shouldn't be a problem going to a gay wedding. Sin is sin right? Being gay isn't worse than anything else.
