What does papa mean to you?

My fiancé’s dad keeps telling our son to call him papa and I HATE IT!!! I hear papa as dad but they hear it as grandpa. When they say it it just makes me cringe. His mom also wants our son to call her Mam maw and that’s so ugly sounding it just 🤮 lol so end this debate between me and my fiancé. Do you hear papa as dad or grandpa?
