Belly Button Infection?

I'm sorry this is gross but HELP! Anybody have any idea what causes red itchy irritation in the belly button plus a little zit looking thing? (PLEASE NOTE the white stuff in the pic is antifungal cream I'm hoping will help and not part of the infection. Yes, I probably could have taken a better pic). Just want to know if anyone has any ideas on a good plan of attack for this since I'm between GPs right now and would rather not go to urgent care. Thanks!
