Christmas outfit, what would you do?

So, maybe this is silly... my in laws bought my son a Christmas outfit. (When they gifted it, they specifically said that’s what it was for). It was really sweet of them, but I’m feeling a little bummed that I didn’t get to pick out his 1st Christmas outfit. So I’m trying to decide if I just go with it or buy my own & use that some other time. 
In our family, Christmas eve is when we get dressed up special (I’m sure the day they are thinking he’d wear what they bought) . Christmas Day is typically much more casual. We will probably spend Christmas eve, Christmas Day & at least 1 other day together, with extended family as “Christmas”. 
So options are 
1. Don’t buy anything new & just use their gift Christmas eve & where whatever on the other days.
2. Use gift on Christmas eve & buy something special for Christmas Day or other holiday time. 
3. Buy something special for Christmas eve, & wear the gift Christmas Day or other holiday time. (This would probably be my preference, but I don’t want them to be offended we didn’t use their outfit on Christmas eve & he’ll definitely be overdressed for the other days.)

Have back up outfits for just in case or because you want to put it on them. Have a picture of the outfit being on & then demand an outfit change 🤷🏼‍♀️

Tbh i feel like this is such a first world problem, it feels stupid being upset about it. But i would dress the baby up in the outfit they bought when they come over or when you meet. And then he will probably get messy anyway like spit up or get food on it idk you havent said how old the baby is. And then you would need to change him anyway and you could change him into the outfit you bought.

Dress him up in their outfit Christmas Day and your outfit Christmas Eve since you said that’s when your family would get dressed up

Honestly, I had the same dilemma. I just did what I wanted. It’s your kid. You decide. If you don’t want to hurt their feelings, say he spit up on it right before you left and you had to change him.

Put her in whatever you want on xmas eve, and their outfit xmas day, then just play dumb and say something like ‘oh, you’d said it was for xmas so I assumed you meant xmas day’ 🤷🏼‍♀️

If it’s a nice outfit and you like it, I would buy one you like that you chose and wear both. Just go change the baby at some point and be like “oh I selected this outfit so I wanted pics in both”. Babies have wardrobe changes, no biggie. It’s not like you went and changed your outfit too, it’s a BABY, nobody will be upset.

Our daughter had three Christmas outfits last year for her first Christmas. 🤷🏾‍♀️ She wore all three. My husband and I had one customized for her, my parents purchased one, and my in-laws purchased one. So if you want to buy another one, go ahead. 🤷🏾‍♀️ I know as a mother, you want to buy something for your child so you can definitely buy another one.

I am in the same boat! My MIL bought two Christmas outfits and my SIL bought one that says “my first Christmas.” Maybe it’s silly to be upset about, but this is his first Christmas and I wanted to pick out his outfits. He’s my baby so I’m going to pick out his outfits and decide what he’s going to wear. Hopefully, no ones feelings get hurt 🤷🏻‍♀️

Personally I’d do option 3, if Christmas Eve is important to you then that’s when he should wear what you choose. No big deal if he’s overdressed Christmas Day, it will be cute. 
But maybe also if you plan on getting a photo taken with Santa, you could dress him in the outfit from your in laws for that.
