Family upset that we are requesting their vaccines be up to date?

Hannah

So as we are getting closer to our delivery date, my husband and I decided to announce to the family that we request that EVERYONE has an updated TDap shot, and their flu shot. My family took it very well, and the only person on my side who is unable to get the TDap is my brother because he has epilepsy. He is the ONLY exception I made to this rule.

My husbands family on the other hand (mainly his sister) did not take this very well and it was quite upsetting. All she said was "Just dont have the baby around sick people". Im sorry but, WHAT? You can be sick, and NOT show any signs. You could be a carrier of whooping cough and not show any signs at all. I dont want her to think I'm punishing her by not letting her touch my child unless she is vaccinated. But i literally just want to do what I can to keep my child from getting sick. RSV season is here and im due any day, flu season is here and im due any day. If I can prevent my child from an illness, I'm going to.

Am I wrong for thinking this way? I am a first time mom, and the fact that my first real decision as a parent was shit on is really upsetting.
