I saw the thread with the blackfishing (white girls using self tanners and makeup to achieve an unnatural brown skin and/or texturizing hair to look black bcuz it’s a “trend”) and I remembered it circulated around the same time a white girl got called out for yellow facing by photoshopping herself to look Korean

Lol here’s her flimsy shallow apology added but I remember it was also a “trend” to be Asian/ part Asian a few years back but I guess it’s coming back too

So I wonder what we, especially women of color can do to confront this “trend” of editing and painting features to look more like our ethnic features we were looked down on for when we were younger? Like this is unsettling and it makes me tired
