Slippery cervical mucus a week before period.

I'm 8 months postpartum. Since I got my first period at 2 months postpartum my periods have been pretty normal. My next period is due a week from today. All last week I was having mild cramping. Which I'm assuming was ovulation. Well since my suspected ovulation I've had a lot of slippery discharge. Clear not white. Is this normal for after ovulation? I never had this a week before my period before.. the cramping seems to have gone away the last few days.
