open cervix on second baby??

Question

should your cervix already be open on ykur second pregnancy or have I just made that up myself and never read it  somewhere 😂 I'm 37weeks as of yesterday should be induced at 38 due to gestational dibetis but iv never got an internal examination at any stage at any of my appointments and I'm so curious to know if I'm completely shut or open some bit

Your cervix doesn’t stay open if that’s what you’re asking. I think women would have died off from sepsis or something if that were the case.

I didn't dialate until labor with either of my first 2.

I'm on baby 4 and I've never dilated before active labor. I've also never gone into spontaneous labor and have had to be induced with all my babies. Also dilation and cervical checks mean nothing before active labor, you can be dilated for weeks before baby comes or not dilate at all until your in active labor. Pffft third baby here and still closed at 36 weeks. I have my 37 week app tomorrow so I’m really hoping I’ve progressed.

Yeah the very tip is usually a little open but that doesn't mean your dilated.

I’m 35+3 and I had a pelvic exam 2 days ago cervix closed, high and too the back :(

Usually ladies that are on their second pregnancy’s chill around a 2 or 3, so you are likely more dilated then the closed and tight women giving birth to baby #1.

I was closed until 33 weeks with my second. And I was 1cm. I’m now 35 weeks 5 days and 2cm and 60% effaced . Really depends. Some women remain slightly open after there first pregnancy and some don’t. Really can’t know unless you get a check.
