There seems to be a lot of confusion about kick counts and fetal movement. The purpose of doing kick counts daily is to help you understand your baby’s patterns and what’s normal for them. These start in the third trimester because that’s when baby starts moving to a schedule and is more likely to have recognizable busy times. Doing daily kick counts can help you answer the question “my baby hasn’t moved as much today, is he/she ok?”

I highly recommend downloading the app “count the kicks!” Which is free and will help you track baby movement in a way that is useful and will not add stress but actually give you peace of mind.
