Freaking out about HPV?

So I have my first ever PAP smear next month, I’ve never had those Guardasil shots. I’ve had 5 partners in my life, including my boyfriend. I’m seriously freaking out that this test will come back and tell me I have HPV. Does anyone have experience or facts to give me? Thank you!

Even if you have it, its extremely common. So common in fact, they say almost all adults have it. Its not worrisome since the vast majority of people clear it on their own. Mainly two strains out of 100 are known to be associated with cancer, and around four are linked to warts. Having the warts does not increse the risk of cancer. The vaccines are only made for four or nine strains depending on the brand, and is not effective at prevention after youve come in contact with it.

Well.  Get the shots when you can, but it’s possible you’ve been exposed already.  Try not to worry about it until you have to.  If it comes back positive they’ll have you in for a Colposcopy which will biopsy the cells.  Depending on the cells they may either watch it or decide on a more aggressive treatment.  If it comes back negative start using condoms.  Men can carry HPV and have no clue.  Also, this is something that even if you’ve been with someone for years it can show down the road.  It likes to lie dormant.  No way to know who it came from.  Bottom line don’t stress until you need to.  Relax and know that about 80% of women deal with it today and you’re not alone.

I’m 20 and was diagnosed with cancerous HPV. My doctor told me to get the HPV shots so I’m doing it but even if you have HPV you will most likely be okay. If it’s warts, hey it’s not cancerous and you’ll be perfectly okay. You can get them surgically removed if you like. If you have cancerous and end up getting cancer as long as they catch it early you’ll be fine (: my doctor said I’ll most likely be 100% fine due to my age, but I still got every 6ms-1year to get checked up. Just whatever you do. DO NOT smoke cigs. My gyno said if I smoke I will most likely get cancer. (: I know it’s scary but you’ll be okay and even if you have it the ones that matter will still love you. My fiancé and I still have a happy sex life and hes not creeped out or scared of catching it at all (:

I have HPV and have had a LEEP 2 years ago. Honestly I've had a lot of doctors tell me things that are untrue about that vaccine and I've heard lots of things that make me weary of it, obviously this would be an informed decision that you'd have to make on your own. However doctors may try to tell you that the vaccine can help if you already have it, which really doesn't make any sense and after hours of searching I can't give any proof of. The most important thing you can do is to eat a high nutrient diet and keep your immune system in top shape, many women have had high grade dysplasia and cleared it with diet only. I also did a lot of looking into natural supplements and there's been studies that show that AHCC from shiitake mushrooms can possibly eradicate the virus completely from your system! However be careful taking it if pregnant because raw mushrooms can be bad for baby. Hopefully you don't have it and everything is great. Btw my friend also had the type that gives you warts and she had two babies that are perfectly healthy.

I got the shots and still got HPV. Had a biopsy and it was non cancerous. But my last pap showed no signs of HPV. So don’t worry.
