“Millennial” parenting- when does it go too far?

St

Let’s break up these thanksgiving posts with something else.

I’ve followed a woman named Channon Rose on YouTube for about three years now. She’s been ttc for years with her husband and finally conceived and gave birth to her daughter in October. She posts daily vlogs of her baby and has gotten into some controversy for her parenting choices before she even gave birth.

Some of the decisions her and her husband have been criticized for include raising their baby vegan, being restrictive with her diet in general (no sweets even at another child’s birthday party), not allowing her husband to feed their child, running to her and fussing and using a pacifier whenever she makes noises (even normal baby cooing), putting her on birth control as soon as she gets her period, and most recently, trying to potty train their one month old using elimination communication.

Do you feel these “new age” parenting techniques are ridiculous? Should we continue to use the mentality of “it worked for us when we were kids” or should we embrace new ideas? Are we raising a more coddled generation, or possibly more empathetic and responsible?

Disclaimer: I have no children and no strong opinion on this, just looking to discuss since our community has a wide range of parenting styles.
