I’m a firm believer that people don’t change, situations do. & with an abuser a big part of the situation changing is the victim being victimized to the point they change their behavior & the abuser continues heir abuse in more “subtle” ways.

Not while in the abuilsive relationship. I believe everyone can change. But I think the abuser would have to be out of the relationship in order to do so.

They are capable, but they rarely want to, or see any reason to.
Abusers don't just wake up one day and think "it'll be fun to be an abusive piece of shit!" They start justifying how it's really ok for them to do x,y and z to their partner because "my partner made me." To them it's ok to do that because their partner "acted too friendly towards the waiter" or some shit. If you ask an abuser if they're abusive, they'll say no because they don't see it that way. It's a disconnect in the brain, just like men who think there's a difference between "rape" and "forced sex," or people in general who think "it's not really racist unless someone pulls out the tar, the feathers and the n-word." Fix that disconnect and they might change.
But I certainly wouldn't stick around in an abusive relationship to find out if it clicks in their brain before they get around to killing me.

No...eventually they try to kill you.  I know first hand.  It gets worse as time goes on.  When you do finally leave (with the few teeth you have left)  you’ll be older, less attractive, and emotionally screwed up, and will never find a damn date,  regretting all the years you’ve wasted.  
Once you realize that YOU are the only one that’s in love.  It’s easier to leave. 
You love your mom? You wanna see her hurt? No! .. why? Because you love your mom.  If your boyfriend loved you, he wouldn’t hurt you.   That is NOT love, it’s an infatuation!
