So I work at McDonald’s and I noticed an old pound coin in the till so I took it out and brought it to the office. My manager was like “put it back, we’re trying to give it to someone so we don’t have it” I was so confused by this and replied “yeah but isn’t that illegal to do since the old pound coin isn’t legal tender”. So he tried saying “yeah but just do it, all they’ll say is we gave them it and just say it was a mistake” after a bit of debating and disagreement he just handed me an actual £1 and took the old one. No doubt that he’s put it into another till for someone else to give out to a customer. I’m sorry but I’m not contributing in that. Risking myself to get into trouble by giving out illegal tender (illegal money), knowing that it’s an old pound coin...actual shady, the McDonald’s I work at is one of the most sketchiest places. So unhygienic as well and they just try to hide it from the public and tell us to be quite about it or else we’d be braking our contracts....
