When to try for the next one

My baby is 5 1/2 weeks old and my husband and I want to try for a 2nd one. I’m 38 and the clock is ticking. I hear you have to wait 6 or 9 months before trying. Anyone else in the same boat and how truly long do Inhave to wait? I ask because I had a miscarriage in 2017 and was told to wait 3 months before trying and later found out people tried right away successfully. I was so pissed

I agree that your doctor would be the best resource, but I researched this before TTC #2 and waiting 18 months is recommended. My husband and I decided to try after 12 months and got pregnant with our now 1 month old right away. The pregnancy wasn’t any harder on me than my first and baby is healthy and happy.

I just spoke to my dr about this at my 6 wk check up. She told me 18 months :( and that it’s really important for me to wait since I had a csection.

My son was 14 months when I got pregnant with my LO . It was actually a very easy pregnancy way easier than with my son. I didn’t even have all groin pain I had with my son .

I asked my doctor at one year pp if we could start trying for our second he said the conservative old school doctor side of him wanted to say wait until 18 months but he knows it’s possible to do it sooner so he said I could go ahead at one year pp. my second pregnancy was so much harder physically but worth it. People get pregnant back to back all the time it’s possible but it is hard on your body.

I got pregnant with my 3rd and 4th right after the other turned 1. It was super hard on my body even at that point. If you’re breastfeeding, your fertility might not come back for a while. And if it does and you get pregnant, your supply will most likely be affected. Best thing to do is speak to your doctor. Our bodies need time to heal after pregnancy.
