vaginal dryness during sex, lube??

so recently my vagina has been getting dry during sex and it’s upsetting between me n my bf bc this never used to happen and we have to stop bc it hurts. Idk what it could be but should we try lube? If so what’s the best kind?? I really don’t want any rashes or allergic reactions to it but I wanna try and is it messy??

Try a regular water based lube from any store (Walmart, Walgreens, CVS). KY brand it always a good start and not very expensive. 
If you find it dries up too quickly (or you go at it for quite awhile) you can try a silicone lube. Just remember that silicone lube can damage some kinds of toys.
