My friends think I'm some sort of creep or something.

So I have a friend and he's sixteen. I'm 21. My friends think it's super weird that he and I texted all day today (we don't normally). Like it's not a creepy weird thing, it's just completely platonic conversation about random stuff. Before you go telling me to ditch the kid and get friends my own age (which I've been told before), I have a lot of friends. Mostly my age. Some younger (16-18) and lots older (22-30). I don't think it's weird to be friends with younger people. But because he's a guy it's apparently the end of the world. Have I broken some kind of unspoken rule? It's not like we hang out or anything. We work together, but that's the only time I see him. I'm also pretty close to his older brother. I don't find it inappropriate at all. I'm nice to people who are nice to me. And if someone wants to talk to me, I'll talk to them. That's how I see it.
