I’m not the praying type but........

Now that thanksgiving has come to a close and we have had a wonderful meal with our families and friends I would like to take a minute to ask all my friends a favor.

This year my son joined an organization with his school called Best Buddies and he was paired with a special needs boy his age. I have recently had the pleasure of meeting this young man and getting to learn more of his story.

He has some physical disabilities and some mental heath and behavioral challenges, however he really is a very neat child. He has spent most of if not all his life living in a group home, however his time there is coming to an end. He has no other option here other than being institutionalization or out of state placement with another group home.

A couple of weeks ago he came to school so excited and shared with my son that he was being adopted and would finally have his own family. We were so happy for him! However when my son attended his birthday party I took the opportunity to ask his staff if that was true, to which they replied it was not, and his only options were those stated above. My heart was then broken for this boy that has been abandoned for most of his life.

As we left his home and he graciously walked us out, he asked my son to pray for him. When I heard that I will admit I choked back tears however they could not be contained as I retold this all to my husband. This situation has weighed heavy on my heart so much that now I have taken to prayer on his behalf.

So on this day as we sit around revealing all that we have and are grateful for, I ask that you please take a moment and say a little prayer that my sons buddie Alexis finds a loving family of his own that he so desperately longs for and deserves. Please feel free to share because the more prayers the better, not to mention we have all seen a story or two that have had miraculous outcomes all from the network of Facebook!!!
