Would you change your period for a tropical vacation?

Question

My husband and I are going to Jamaica on January 9-16. 
I'm scheduled to get my period on January 12. This is not my idea of a good time.
I'm SO dang regular that I can pinpoint roughly what day every month I'll get it... 
Would you take birth control for a couple of months to avoid having your period on a holiday?? 
Or would you leave it and just let Mother Nature take her course?

I did this for years with birth control!  I was supposed to get my period the weekend of my wedding and the week of my honeymoon — Hell no!

I tried this exactly once and it made me so sick. It fucked up the entire trip. I had no idea my body would react the way it did, it was bonkers.
If you’re not currently taking birth control, I’d be leery of messing with your cycle right out of the gate.

Yes I did once and my periods were normal after . I’m considering doing it again for a trip next month

My doctor straight up told me i could skip my period if I wanted to when he put me on bc for missing two periods. He wants me to at least have a few induced by the pills before i decide to skip but he said it shouldnt be a problem if i needed to do so.

I have definitely taken birth control to avoid getting my period for a certain event!
