Balance transfer ( have this happened to you?)

So I did a balance transfer and used that same card and it broke the agreement of 0 interest for 12 months!!!

And I spent 60$ to do the balance transfer and now I’m still paying high interest!!

Has this happened to you guys? Or or is it just my Disney visa card?

That’s how all balance transfers work. I work for a credit card company selling balance transfers. Only the portion you transfer is at 0%. Everything else is at whatever the standard rate of your card is. It’s explained in the disclosures we are required by law to read, show online, and mail to you. You know, the ones people ignore, click through or throw away? I’d recommend looking for a card that has an opening promo with a fee waiver, apply for that and transfer your balances there.

What are they charging the interest on? When I’ve done balance transfers the 0% is on the transfer but any new purchases are subject to the normal interest rate.

Read the terms of the transfer. Last time I did a balance transfer, the terms of 0% for 12 months only applied if I made no new purchases using the card. I paid no interest on the balance and paid it off in 11 monthly installments, leaving myself 1 month to spare.

0% interest for X amount of months is only valid on BTs unless otherwise stated, usually as a promo for a new card. You will receive interest for the purchase (unless it was PIF by that statements closing due date) but not for the BT as long as THAT PIF by the agreed upon date.
