Would you marry your SO if they said it’s just a paper?

My SO said marriage is just a piece of paper, and he doesn’t understand why I’m upset after explaining what it means to me to him.

If he's prepared to do it for you then why not. Not everyone shares the same feelings towards marriage but if he's prepared to put his feelings towards aside so you can get marriage then that's a pretty decent show of commitment.

it IS just a piece of paper. just because you have the paper doesn’t mean you’re committed...and just because you don’t, doesn’t mean you’re not.
if he is willing to marry you because you want the!paper, despite hay he doesn’t care about it...doesn’t that mean something? he wants to give what you want...that should matter to you.

I wouldn’t take that to heart dear. A lot of people feel this way. I do to a point. But on the other hand, marriage is a traditional thing and has significant meaning behind it so it makes it special still. Maybe in his eyes he sees it as that he doesn’t need papers to prove that he loves you and is committed only to you. 
Although, he does need to consider your feelings in the matter. That’s what being in a committed relationship is. Communication and understanding each other. Taking the other person’s feelings or opinions on a matter is important. You guys are a team after all.💁🏻‍♀️

If you want to get married and he doesn’t believe in it, then you should break up. If that’s the case, it clear that you both want different things.
