Have you let your baby sleep on its stomach?

My baby is 4 weeks and hasn’t been sleeping well and has been super fussy... crying for no reason. Tonight as a last resort I put him on his stomach and he passed right out and has been passed out for the longest since he’s been born... 4.5 hours so far. 
I’m super paranoid about sids but this no sleep thing is taking a toll on both of us, he has a cold and it doesn’t seem to be going away when he doesn’t sleep. 
Do you let your baby sleep on it’s stomach?

The reason babies sleep better on their belly’s is because they don’t rouse as easily so if they have any problems with their oxygen levels, they may not wake at all. It’s the exact reason why sleeping on their belly puts them at a higher risk of SIDS. It’s not worth the risk just to get a little more sleep. I’d much rather have my child wake up frequently on their back then to never wake up again because I put them on their belly.

The only time it’s ok for a baby to sleep on their belly is if they get there on their own. (Which is probably what is going on with a lot of the people that voted yes). You should always put them down on their back.

Yup regularly, my son is now 5. But I started out with letting him sleep on his tummy during nap times so I could watch him but at night it was his back. As son as he could turn his head on his own I let him sleep on his tummy during naps and bed time. My son was and still is a tummy sleeper.
If my daughter was a tummy sleeper I’d let her sleep on her tummy too but she wasn’t so🤷🏼‍♀️
But the way I think of it, if a baby is gonna get sids theirgonna get it weather it’s on their tummy, back, or side. It has something to do with the neurons in the brain tell the body to stop breathing. Yes sleeping on their tummy’s increase it but so did laying on their backs decades ago. You can’t stop sids let the baby sleep how ever makes them comfortable or sleeping for both of you is gonna be miserable

Right around 4 weeks my son started rolling to his stomach to sleep and would wake up every time I tried to flip him to his back or at least to his side then roll right back to his belly and be asleep again . He’s almost 1 now and literally always sleeps on his belly unless we are holding him but he sleeps in bed with us now and he’ll flip between belly and back whatever way takes up more of the bed he’s happy with 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

I never ever allowed my daughter to sleep on her belly prior to her learning how to roll over. It's soooo dangerous. Babies sleep more soundly on their stomachs and because of that, babies can actually forget to breathe. Not only that, but if he's not rolling yet, he could easily suffocate in his sleep as well. Please be consistent in promoting only good, SAFE sleep habits.

I voted yes because I let LO stay on her tummy once she could roll there and back herself. But I would never lay baby down on her tummy even now.

I didn’t until about 5 months she could roll by herself and I wasn’t about to roll her back over and wake her up(she’s scary when she gets woken up😂) now 7 months and loves sleeping on her belly with her booty up

My baby is 2 months and 3 weeks, I have recently started to let her sleep on her tummy during the day time. This helped immensely with the gripes and colic. It also allowed her to sleep better with fewer interruptions in her sleeping intervals. Letting your baby sleep on their tummy is good however you have to monitor them often because if SIDS that’s why daytime works better for me, I can monitor her all day. This is just my experience but always talk to your pediatrician before doing anything new with your baby.
