Do you have to have a laptop in college?

Do you use it to take notes or do you use a notebook? Which do you find to be easier?

Both. It just depends on the class for me. Like calculus obviously that’s hard to type out the equations and things like physics problems and chemical equations. But if I am typing my notes and I need to do a problem or drawing I’ll put in my notes “see written example 1.A. on 11/26/2018” or something. And if I’m using a notebook and need to use my laptop for something I’ll add what I did on my laptop like “look up ‘topic a’ on www.example.com” or “diagram of such and such”. 
And some days I just prefer one over the other but what helps me keep everything straight is I’ll notate the method I’m using on the method I’m not using like if I decide to use my notebook that day I’ll put in my laptop notes “cal II topics a & b notes and problem set noted in CAL II NOTEBOOK 11/26/2018” that way I know where to look in everything for everything.

I use a notebook to take notes. Some professors don’t allow laptops to take notes. Most do probably. But I always struggled to take notes with a laptop and the key tapping sounds are noisy. I think it’s important to have one to do schoolwork on at home or around campus, but there are other options.

I use notebooks to take notes but my college you have to go online and login using your S number and through desire 2 learn which lists your classes and literally has everything on there. Each class on D2L will show the syllabus for that class and rubrics for assignments, audio lectures everything. So for me personally, I use it for that. I also use it to write my essays from home instead of having to stay after class on campus.

You remember things better when you write them on paper vs just typing. Plus I always preferred notebooks because a lot of classes had those tiny swing out desks on the chairs and they were hard to put a laptop on. A Laptop is still very useful though so you can do homework wherever you want or between classes. Makes life easier but you could get buy without it if you had to. If a class requires one and you can’t afford it the school might have rentals or something

I didn’t bring one to class, only a few ppl did in my classes. I hand wrote notes. You will def want one for homework though, or at least a computer you can use

Depending on your major, I basically have to have a laptop since I spend hours typing lab reports and the library isn’t open all hours of the night. As for class, I print out the notes that are posted and add notes in the margins

I used a notebook all the way. I did have a laptop at home to work on essays or research etc. But in class definately notebook.
