Had my first ever appointment with the OB/GYN yesterday. Started out with him being an hour and a half late. My husband and I finally get a room and it takes another 45 minutes for him to meet us. He sits down and tells me “there’s no way you’re pregnant. Your blood test showed too low of hcg levels” and I could feel my heart sink to my stomach. He keeps going on and on about how a 7.5 week pregnant woman would have levels in the 40,000+ window and on and on. And I go, wait.. I had the blood test when I wasn’t even 4 weeks pregnant. With my primary care. Almost a month ago. And he looks at his computer and goes “oh yeah you’re right. Well you’re probably pregnant still”. So he continues and he’s like “when was the last day of your first period? We have it here that it was the 4th of October” and I go “umm yeah that sounds right” not knowing wtf “last day of first period means” (most recent period? If so why would you word it like that?). And he starts yelling at me telling me I’m obviously wrong because I couldn’t be 7.5 weeks if my last day was on the 4th. So I’m like okay I guess I don’t understand what you’re asking me. And he goes “how do I need to explain this to you?” Oh man i was sooo uncomfortable. Long story short he finally ordered a blood test for a re-test. Asked me about my symptoms and he goes “well that sounds like the symptoms of a pregnant woman”.

Then he did a pelvic exam (where he told me I felt like 8 weeks). No urine analysis. No further blood testing. No breast exam. Nothing. I understand they have to confirm my pregnancy, but I just wish they would’ve done something else. Not a great experience.
