Possible Miscarriage

I started spotting last Wednesday at approx 6 weeks and then had 4 or 5 days of heavy bleeding including some clots. Very mild cramps in the beginning but nothing severe. I hadn’t been to the doctor yet as I was travelling when I got the positive test a week before the bleeding. I told my doctor (over the phone) and he said it sounds like a miscarriage and as long and I’m not in pain not to worry. I’m guessing I should wait a few days and take a pregnancy test to confirm?
