Color or Black&White????

Question

Looking into getting my first tattoo. I'm 27 and have two kids. 11 yr Boy and 6 yr Girl. I always wanted a tattoo to represent my kids. The dog represents my son and is love for books, music, and gaming. The fairy represent my daughter, she Fearless, crazy, and adventurous. This is a rough draft I created, but the tattoo artist will still make modifications one of which is yo turn the entire picture into a cartoon type picture to give it more of a kiddie feel. I would like your honest opinion, should I go with Color or Black&White?

color tattoos tends to fade faster than solid black ones.

You could always do black and white but have the boots be red. That'd be cool.

It will depend on your skin tone tbh. Speak to an artist and see what they think. I’m no expert but I have multiple tattoos and not all colours last well on certain skin tones.

Ps! I really like your mockup of the composition. As a tattoo artist, I actually like & appreciate when people do this to really give me a good idea of what they're going for. I was super hesitant when I saw the girl though due to detail when applied as a tattoo but was happy to hear you're expecting the artist to alter things and actually make them a bit more 'cartoony' (will work better for the little fairys face in the long run)

I’m biased, all my tats are black and grey. I’m not a big fan of colored tattoos.

I’d keep in mind cost too. Color will cost more with a design like this due to how many colors are in it! Ultimately it’s which one you would like more. I like it in both but sometimes people just have personal preference of one over the other!
