Low amh update after medical follow up

We just had our video ivf appt. the doctor basically said my v low amh of 0.4 doesn’t correlate with the antra follicle count (which was 10). She said that she wants me to repeat both tests 2-3 cycles after I’ve stopped breastfeeding (I still breastfeed my 15 month at night) to see if I still get the same results (because breastfeeding produces a hormone called prolactin which can effect levels but might not?!).

It was a bit of a frustrating appt with no answers. She said that the supplement dhea can improve egg quality Although there’s no evidence for it, and I wouldn’t be allowed to take it while breastfeeding anyway.

We are still on the list for the ivf until we hear otherwise but can’t go ahead with anything until these tests are done.

She wants the amh to be above 5 !!!!! It’s not going to happen and my hubbie is saying he really doesn’t want to do ivf and just wants to try naturally xx

That’s frustrating but improving egg quality takes a few months. Diet,Vitamin d and ubiquinol are a good start. Did she test to see if you would benefit from dhea as it doesn’t help everyone and has tons of side effects. It will happen! Just be patient!

Thanks for your positivity, this is only our first cycle of trying so I need to be patient !!

Re the dhea- my doctor didn’t test for it because it’s not fully legalised here (I’m in the UK) so doctors aren’t really officially supposed to recommend or prescribe it. :( I didn’t know there was a test for it- what does it measure ?

I’ve been taking vit d , ubiquinol, pre conception vitamins and COD liver oil for about 6 weeks now but I know I need to be taking them for a little longer to have any effect.

I agree with Dangey. My SO also isn’t that keen on IVF feeling that if it’s meant to happen it’ll happen naturally. Tried explaining to him that that’s not always the case but he reminds me to have faith. Hang in there lovely!

Also, what are your SO’s thoughts which mean he isn’t keen on ivf either ?

Aw thank you :) my hubbie doesn’t like the idea of all the medical intervention, plus I’ve had a few health issues and operations so he doesn’t want to mess with my body more than we have to... will see 🤞🏼
