Sexual assault and pressing charges (need advice)

Hello ! Im in need of some advice if anyone has gone through the process of pressing charges for sexual assault/rape. Recently, someone anonymously called Children and Families and reported my rape incident. I went to the police station and was interviewed (the scariest moment of my life) as well as my mom and dad (since I’m 17). My mom and I were the only ones that knew and that night my dad and brothers found out. After I was interviewed, (by a super nice police officer woman who helped me and told me her and her colleagues would try their best to help me and my case) I was told that it was my decision to press charges or not. My parents do not want me to because of how I will be attacked and hurt by the defense attorney but a part of me wants to. Does anyone have experience with this? I know sexual assault rarely goes to court and gets convicted so I want to try to convict him and get some consequence and justice.
