Gun rights activist Kaitlin Bennett vs. college students

*DISCLAIMER* this is not meant to be a gun control debate, I know that topic has been beaten to death

For those who don’t know, Kaitlin Bennett is the girl from Kent State who posed for her graduation photos on campus with an AR-15 as “second amendment awareness” earlier this year and got a lot of media attention.

So yesterday she visited the University of Akron to speak about gun rights, like she’s been doing all over the country since graduation. As she started her video a group of students surrounding her began berating her and saying things like “nobody wants to hear you”, “we don’t want you here”, etc. One man in particular got her attention and said he doesn’t like her or support her as he filmed and then left. It sounds tame but Kaitlin and other conservative outlets are outraged that a man would act this way towards a woman who wasn’t doing anything to him. The incident was recorded and shared all over Twitter so be sure to check it out if you can.

My question is, since etiquette when addressing opposing views on CC has been discussed lately, who is wrong in this situation? Was this a correct way of arguing different opinions? Do you think this opposition to her has been so celebrated online because she’s a conservative? Comment what productive ways we as a society can debate in a healthy way even if one side has “problematic” or unpopular views.
