What did/are you guys doing for their first birthday?

Trying to figure it out still. I know they won't remember but still... I want my son to have pictures he can look back at when he gets older.

My opinion is the first birthday is really for the parents and photos. We are having his birthday at our house with just a few family members and close friends. The theme is Mr. ONEderful. We’ll have a small cake for him and then cupcakes for everyone else. We’re just doing finger foods.

We did a small party with our immediate family and a few friends. The theme was twinkle twinkle little star. 
I didn't get a picture but she wore a pink dress with gold stars on it.

We are doing my sons on Saturday at our house. He loves Elmo/Sesame street so that’s our theme.  Just friends and family but still close to 45 people.

We are having a cake smash photo session with The Picture People and then a small party at my parents’ house with pizza and cake. But since mine and my husband’s family lives about 6 hours away from each other (and we live out of state all together), we will have another small party with his family a few days after the first party. 
So two small parties from 12pm-3pm: one on the 22nd, then we celebrate Xmas Eve with my family then we drive to husbands family on Christmas and celebrate with them, and then have her other party on the 26th. Kind of difficult but, everyone wants to see her and we’ve budgeted in those costs.
And her theme is the Wild ONE. She turns one on the 17th and we will be road tripping that day. How fitting with her free spirit 😂 (she’s traveled so much since she’s been born).

Since my son’s birthday is just 3 days before Christmas, we’ll be visiting my mom for the holidays and we’re going to do just a small family party. Grandma is going to bake a cake and we’ll have gifts for him.

I'm just having family and close friends at our house for appetizers, drinks and cupcakes. It is about 40 people but I have a large family (cousins, etc.) That i am close with and live within a 10 mile radius. Very casual nothing fancy, I'm getting an oversized cupcake as the smash cake.

We had my daughter’s birthday party yesterday. We held it at our house and had a Minnie Mouse themed party. We had about 25-30 friends come over to celebrate the special day with us.
