What would you testify your friend was doing? (See photo)

I’ve already answered and submitted and will post the class results below in a comment once people start voting, but I think this poses a question of loyalty vs law. Would you stay loyal to your friend in this situation or obey the law?

I'm not lying under oath and going to jail. And a real friend wouldn't ask you to. And a decent human being would own up to their mistakes.

This could potentially be a really interesting debate on loyalty. I would argue that I am being loyal to my friend if I confess she was driving 15 miles above the speed limit. A good friend is supposed to support you and lift you up, but some of my closest and longest friends are the ones that are willing to call me out, but than stand by me while I face the consequences. But to answer the question, I would tell the truth. I would support my friend with the aftermath and let her know I would be there for her, but I would have to let the truth be known.

I wouldn't lie. At the end of the day there is a speed limit for a reason and that speed limit can be the difference between minor injuries and someone's death in the event of an accident. A family friend of mine who was a passenger was killed by someone going over the speed limit and I certainly wouldn't lie for anyone who does drive over the speed limit.

Loyalty vs law? Oh hell no. It's called being a decent person, if my friend hit someone. Damn rights I'll say my friend was speeding. I've almost got smacked by a vehicle a few times, and I saw my close guy friend fly over someones roof of their vehicle. Never will I protect someone who hits a pedestrian

I would tell the truth. The pedestrian and their friends and family deserve honesty. I don’t see a reason to lie about it. Yeah my friend will receive consequences. But they should. They endangered the public and ended up hurting someone if not killing them. That wasn’t mentioned I don’t think.

So I just finished watching the lecture that followed this question set and apparently this thought study has been studied around the globe and they’ve found that people in societies where the government system is weak/corrupt, people are more likely to back up their friend rather than abide by the law. Alternatively, where government systems are seen as strong and with less corruption people are less likely to lie for their friend.

I’m not lying under oath for anyone. I have a fiancé to be here for & a future child to consider. Sorry I’m willing to lose any friendship if it means I’ll have my freedom jail isn’t for me.
