Is this typical 6 month old behavior?

My 6 month old screams a lot during the day. Not really like a I'm mad type (unless I dont pick him up soon then he gets mad). Its been going on for about 3 months now. He started to coo and things around 2 maybe 3 months and then it transitioned to screaming. He no longer coos. I'm going to ask the doctor but appointment is not soon.
To try and explain more...basically if we are holding him hes fine. But when he is in his jumper or pack n play unless he has a brand new toy to keep him occupied for 5 minutes he is screaming very loudly. Just like a ahhhhhhh type sound.

Some of it it just they’ve found their voice and that’s their way of expressing it.

It can be normal.  My daughter screams too.  She even fools her dad.  He thinks she is sad screaming.
It is funny when she screams...she will tense up like she is going to take a big poop, scream really loud and then turn and smile at you.
Like your child, she primarily screams in her bouncy seat or exersaucer.

Mine does just the same 😣 he's 7 months now & doesn't do it as much, but it's exactly as u said, on his play mat or something & he just screeches! It comes & goes...now he does more of a growly noise so I guess they're just experimenting with their voices 😁
